Clinical Practice


Inpatient and Outpatient Services

Section members along with housestaff from the University of Pittsburgh Internal Medicine Residency provide the following clinical services to veterans

  • Primary Care to over 32,000 veterans with primary care sites located at the Oakland, Highland Drive, and HJ Heinz (Aspinwall) Campuses along with 4 Community Based Outpatient Clinics located at Aliquippa, Greensburg, and Washington, PA and St. Clairsville, OH.
  • Womens Health Care (A VA National Center of Excellence) for female veterans based at the Oakland Division.
  • Urgent and Emergent care at the Emergent Care Center at Oakland
  • Subtance abuse intervention thru the Substance Abuse Detection and Early Intervention Program based at Oakland
  • Medical Preoperative Evaluation for veterans with chronic medical conditions who are considering major surgery based at Oakland
  • Inpatient general medicine care to veterans admitted for acute medical illnesses to the Oakland Division.
