Program for Health Care To Underserved Populations

The Program for Health Care to Underserved Populations was established in 1994. The mission of the Program is to coordinate and facilitate the providing of health care to identified population groups typically excluded from traditional primary health care. In achieving this goal, the program has also integrated education at all levels for health professional students and health services research where appropriate. This multi-faceted approach has enhanced the quality of care delivered and the environment for indigent service in the communities we serve and the University at large. The program is structured to be community responsive and representative as well as meet its three-fold mission. At the core of the Program’s goals is the mandate to instill a sense of altruism and professionalism at all levels of our profession while responding to a community in need. Nurturing volunteerism, sensitizing our colleagues to all levels to the needs and duties of our profession, and serving our community form the basis for Program activities.
