2nd Annual (2007) Leo H. Criep Symposium on Patient-Provider Communication
The University of Pittsburgh's Institute for Doctor-Patient Communication is pleased to announce the upcoming 2nd annual "Leo H. Criep Symposium on Patient-Provider Communication" to be held on November 15-16, 2007 at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing (Victoria Hall lobby). The Symposium is meant to serve as a forum to discuss varied methodological and analytical issues in conducting patient-provider communication education and research. Nationally known expert researchers in the field of patient-provider communication have agreed to participate as keynote speakers. They include Drs. Forrest Lang (East Tennessee State University), Gregory Makoul (Northwestern University), and James Tulsky (Duke University).
Anticipated activities include:
Presentations by the keynote speakers to Symposium participants providing insights into the process of developing an area of education and/or research focus into one of expertise, suggestions for new educators and investigators in fostering a career in patient-provider communication, future directions in the field, and how do these future directions fit within the keynote speakers' area of expertise.
Oral and poster presentations as a Plenary session given by Symposium participants with direct feedback from the keynote speakers.
One-on-one as well as group mentoring sessions with the keynote speakers.
Campus talks given by the keynote speakers.
